A Spirit of St. Louis is a 1957 biographical film directed by Billy Wilder and starring James Stewart and adapted by Charles Lederer from Charles Lindbergh’s autobiography. A film follows a life & career of Lindbergh, specifically his historic trans-Atlantic flight, & is known as for the plane Lindbergh flew.
Plot
A film occurs as life of far-famed flyer Charles Lindbergh (based on his autobiography), & follows Lindbergh (James Stewart) across the early days of aviation, whenever he worked as a letter carrier through his flight to fame. A film especially focuses in his 1927 trans-Atlantic flight from New York to Paris.
Reception
While freed within April 1957, the film became the pack professional hit & easily-received by critics. A film was commended for it’s favorite results & James Stewart’s competent performance. At a 1958 Academy Awards, Louis Lichtenfield earned a nomination for Right Results.
